Mission Hills #2

This beautiful craftsman home had been fully remodeled on the inside, but the landscaping was in need of renovation. The homeowners wanted to create more entertaining spaces and wanted to keep a large expanse of grass for their young children. Many creative options were reviewed, and through the design process we ended up with the perfect design for this family. We created a series of outdoor entertaining rooms; a cozy entertaining area with a simple yet stunning fireplace with seating for 12; an outdoor covered dining area with overhead heating; a built-in kitchen area including sink, BBQ and refrigerator. Angled steps were added from the backdoor to provide easier access to the grass area and entertaining spaces. This angle is continued with the thin bands of slate which draw your eye to the focal fireplace. The result is a highly functional yet stunning yard with a large play area and cozy entertaining spaces.
